“Centuries” – Fall Out Boy

Have I ever mentioned how much I love the band Fall Out Boy?  Well, I do.  In October they came out with a new video.  What do I have to say about this new video?  I love it!   It is the first single from their new album American Beauty/American Psycho that is due out in January of 2015. Here it is for your enjoyment.

Some people are getting a little peeved about this video because of some of the scenes in it.  Especially my fellow Christians.  Well, I hate to tell you all this, but a lot of that symbology actually comes from Roman mythology.  Crucifying people was a common practice and the nimbus around “holy” figures started with the Roman deities.  Yeah, sorry, not seeing the sacrilege in this video.

As for the song, it is catchy as I’ll get out.  It is one of those rock anthems that you just want to sing along to as loud as you can.   Did you catch the references to other songs at the beginning?  I did!  “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, “The Kids are all Right” by the Who is referenced with a word flipped, and a few other random references thrown in every so often.  Also, the song “Tom’s Diner” by Suzanne Vega is sampled throughout.  This song is a power ballad and is probably one of the best ones of since the start of the 2000’s.  Fall Out Boy has really done well for themselves and continuously put out good music.  Say what you will about them, but they have good music with minimal swearing involved.

So, there you have it.  Enjoy the song and check out their other songs.
